An update from BCHJA President

Deb Gue Announcements

Dear BCHJA Members,
I hope this email finds you and your family well during these challenging and unprecedented times. In light of the current situation in our province – and globally – with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board of the BC Hunter Jumper Association has made a number of decisions that we felt important to share with you at this time.

1. Suspending of BCHJA Points/Year-end Awards in 2020: Given the level of uncertainty we are all experiencing, the Board felt it prudent to do away with BCHJA points and year-end high-point awards for 2020. While it appears some regions of the province may resume competitions in the coming months, this may not be the case across the province; we felt it more equitable to postpone this BCHJA activity for 2020.

2. 2020 BCHJA Memberships: Anyone who has purchased a membership for the 2020 calendar year will automatically have their membership extended through until December 31, 2021. We recognize that our membership offerings in 2020 will be greatly limited by the pandemic and felt this was the appropriate action to take at this time.

3. 2020 BCHJA Fall Finale Show: We are hopeful that as the summer unfolds, and implications for the competitive season become clearer, we will be able to announce details about the Fall Finale Show.  Stay tuned!

We wish to take a moment to recognize the hardworking individuals and organizations who have provided essential services for our equestrian community in British Columbia during the past few months. Farriers and veterinarians, stable workers and managers, feed store employees and everyone in between – thank you for continuing to provide the services necessary to support our industry.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me or any member of our Board. We are here to serve and support – and we look forward to seeing you all again soon.
